This
past year was a truly amazing one, inasmuch as I made a complete
flip-flop from having a desultory and superficial knowledge
of Judaism,(and its encompassing teachings, purposes, and
cycles), to an ardent desire to learn as much as possible.
(Senator Kerry is a bedrock of inertia compared to my complete
transformation!)
I
now can read almost as fluently as the most regular of synagogue
attendees, with the added enjoyment of my new-found ability
to comprehend much of what I read. I credit this to the fact
that, as I learn more about my religion and the reasons behind
its observances, I become more interested in studying its
Hebrew language. I'm certain that my former occupation as
a language teacher is standing me in good stead in that respect.
I
am also taking a weekly course of Torah study at my Rose Schnitzer
Manor under the tutelage of Barbara Slader, and I enjoy immensely
the beauty of the classical Hebrew.
I
thank you so much for the enjoyment, knowledge, and friendship
of the past year, and for the vast amount of scholarship and
teaching ability that you display.
