 Two
events stand out in my memories of our wonderful trip. The first
was being in the Hall of Independence in Tel Aviv in the very
room in which the creation of the State of Israel was officially
declared. The woman who narrated the events of the day made
it so real that I could imagine being there with David Ben Gurion
on that momentous occasion. It seemed so remarkable that from
that rather simple room, in that rather simple building, something
so remarkable had been created. The second was during Shabbat
services. For so many years I recited the prayers that end with
the phrase "next year in Jerusalem". But this year
it was quite different.....I was in Jerusalem. I was a bit overwhelmed
by the thought that the prayer had been answered.
