Joel Krichiver
June 05 Seminar

View of JerusalemThe entire seminar trip was wonderful and there were many moments which were "favorites". The start of Shabbat at David's Tomb with hearing the simultaneous chanting from the Wall, calls marking the end of the Muslim Sabbath and church bells, was a special moment. The atmosphere in Safed was magical and we hated to leave it. The visit to Qumram and Haim's role play really brought the ancient ruins to life for us. Shabbat dinner was exquisite and the opportunity to watch the Orthodox "dating" rituals in the hotel was something we would never otherwise have the opportunity to see. The Golan Heights was moving in a way I did not expect. Every blade of grass there seemed to say to me "Never Again." The street exercise was a unique experience but I wish we could have had prearranged contacts to avoid the time wasted walking and ringing doorbells. Yad Vashem was extremely moving, as was the experience of all the sights, sounds and smells of an energetic and vibrant country, my country, whose very existence is nothing short of a living miracle. Leaving felt like leaving home.
