Everything I'd hoped for and more — November 2008
Errol Lipschitz, Vancouver BC Canada

The Melton Seminar to Israel was everything that I had hoped it would be ... and more. I wisely arrived in Israel prior to the commencement of the seminar so as to get over the jet lag before the commencement of the program. This afforded me the opportunity to explore on my own, take a seminar, and visit with friends and family.

The start of the seminar included an optional afternoon tour of Hebrew University and following the opening dinner of the first evening, the stage was set for a fantastic seminar. All the participants were not only grateful for the outstanding leadership and guidance from the Melton tour leader(s) but also for the wonderful camaraderie amongst the delegates from other Melton Mini Schools. It was not long before warm friendships developed amongst the participants and this lead to very meaningful discussions and interactions. Some participants were first time visitors to Israel while others were not. Most of the “veterans” felt that this was their most informative trip of all and that it would set the stage as a springboard for a returnees’ seminar with Melton in the future.

The commencement of the tour in Jerusalem was both exciting and stimulating and the experiences just kept building. It would be hard to choose the highlights of the seminar but if I had to, they would include going to a Rebbe’s Tish on Shabbat in Jerusalem, Qumran, Tsfat and Zippori. The visit to Independence Hall in Jerusalem was very moving for the Group especially juxtaposed against the bustle of modern Tel Aviv. I did not stop during the “free time” and used it to visit the markets, synagogues of my choice, and of course to wander back to the Kotel to daven.

The seminar is a treat for anyone and was filled with opportunities of creating memories for a lifetime… you deserve to spoil yourself. You will not be disappointed as so much of the program is brought to life by the on site visits and thoughtful presentations

P.S. It was a bonus to spend my birthday on the Golan.
