Suzanne Bernstein
July 05 Israel Seminar
Our Summer Israel Graduates Seminar with the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School was a
most wonderful learning experience.
Under the tutelage of Zohar Raviv and Judy Kupchan we learned how to feel the land of Israel, not only with our eyes and mind, but with our heart.
I would characterize this trip as an Outward Bound, Mensa Group experience. Hiking up and down the paths of Mt. Arbel, walking through the tunnels under the Western Wall, field trips through Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Tsfat and the Golan Heights, and brain storming with the main focus of the seminar “Struggling with The Angels: Encounters with Jewish History” made this trip a perfect one for us.
The Melton Group far exceeded our expectations in its organization of travel arrangements, hotels, study materials and provision of items for our comfort (brief cases with tushins* for example) and selection of wonderful restaurants for our group dinners.
One of my favorite activities of the seminar was going to Independence Hall in Tel Aviv. Not only being in such a historic place, but having the story of Israeli Statehood told, in detail, with such passion was amazing. After singing Hatikvah there wasn't a dry eye in the Hall.
Suzanne and Martin Bernstein are graduate students in the Rockland County, NY Mini-School.
