Deborah G. Leibowitz, Washington DC Mini-School

July 06 Israel Seminar

I have become an Israel news junkie since returning from our marvelous Melton Mini School. I never watched FOX news before (for obvious reasons) but love it now for it's consistently supportive commentary on the war.

As for our trip, I still remember our tour in the tunnels beneath the Western Wall and how inspired I was to be so close to the original Temple, central to much of the Bible's holiday instructions . I don't want a third temple, for I know the issue of sacrifices and a central Cohanim would arise and would in turn upset me. I did purchase copies of the Hebrew Heritage edition of the "Western Wall" and am awaiting delivery with great anticipation. It was awesome to be so close.

I also was inspired daily by our teacher. Jonty's enthusiasm and love of the words he was sharing were contagious. I caught it!  I loved our last day in the hills where David courageously accepted a bully's challenge and changed history. I was also touched by the great group of people with whom I studied and walked. They were a warm, helpful and challenging team.  We DID become a team.  I will never be the same person I was before my Melton Journey. Thank you, Florence, thank you Haim and Jonathan, thank you Jonty!  (I've renamed my grandson, Jonathan.  I now call him Jonty.  At age 16 he's willing!).
