Boca Alumni Retreat 2006

Shalom Haverim;

On behalf of The Florence Melton Adult Mini School International Alumni Association, I thank you for attending and participating in the Second Annual FMAMS Alumni Association Retreat. The learning components of the Retreat were rated with a high degree of satisfaction, thanks to our faculty; Rachel Elior, Zohar Raviv, Yonatan Mirvis, Betsy Katz, Morey Schwartz, Haim Aronovitz, David Chack and Michael Balinsky. The learning was Melton at its best.

It would be very helpful if you would make arrangements with your local site director to speak about the Israel seminar experience. With our pamphlets in hand, and our own stories, we are great advocates for the seminars.

I was proud to report to the FMAMS International Board of Directors that the International Alumni Association had met their $15,000 challenge for the position of Development Director. I will let you know as soon as there is a person in place.

I was informed at the Board meeting that the Hebrew University is planning to highlight the Mini-School Institute at their Board of Governors meeting in 2008. The dates are May 24-June 5, 2008. It would be great if we could plan a Founders Retreat, or some other activity in conjunction with this salute. The Hebrew University considers our Mini-School as fulfilling their goal of being “the University of the Jewish People”. Of course, as planning progresses I will keep you informed.

If you have any ideas that you want to share to strengthen local alumni associations and our International Alumni Association, please send them to David Chack at dchack@fmams.org.il and copy myself at bocarose@adelphia.net.

Save the date!! We have booked the dates for next year’s retreat: February 4-7, 2007. We will begin with special programming on Sunday and end with a half day of learning on Wednesday. You will be receiving more information when it is available.

Please invite your classmates and Melton friends to join you in becoming members of the International Alumni Association. I am happy to contact anyone with whom you would like me to speak.

You are an amazing group of learners and great people I am proud to be associated with each one of you.

B’shalom,
Rose
