Hebrew University among ‘best institutions to work for’
Jerusalem Post, 1 July 2010 – Two of the five best international academic institutions to work in are the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot (second place) and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (fifth), according to the eighth annual survey conducted by The Scientist magazine, the results of which were announced on Tuesday, June 29, 2010.
Some 2,302 readers ranked Princeton University in New Jersey as the top institution in the US and The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, as the top international academic institution.
Many of the winning institutions have performed consistently well in the rankings over recent years; readers cited opportunities for advancement and research resources as their major strengths.“We are pleased to give our readers the opportunity to report what they love and hate about their institutions through the Academia survey,” wrote associate editor Edyta Zielinska, who oversees the Best Places surveys.
Non-traditional locations such as post-industrial sites and farmlands emerged as a predominant focus of many of the ranked institutions. Willingness among these institutions to collaborate and share resources has opened the doors for greater research prospects and created a positive, supportive environment their employees value.
The Scientist has been published for over 23 years to inform and entertain life science professionals around the world. The full article with detailed survey results can be found in the July issue of The Scientist.
