Two new Vice Presidents appointed at Hebrew University: Billy Shapira and Prof. Shy Arkin

Jerusalem, 14 June 2010 – Director-General of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Billy Shapira, and Head of the Authority for Research and Development, Prof. Shy Arkin, were appointed to the positions of Vice President at the 73rd meeting of the Hebrew University Board of Governors last week.

Billy Shapira is the first woman ever to be appointed as a Vice President of the University, and Shy Arkin is the youngest Vice President appointed to this post.

According to President of the Hebrew University, Prof. Menahem Ben-Sasson, the new appointments make the university a younger and more dynamic institution due to these energetic, talented and professional individuals. ''I am sure that in the coming years, these appointments will help the university to continue to flourish – both academically and in the efficiency with which it is run.''
