The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School in Indianapolis, Indiana graduated its fourth class on Thursday, June 8th at the Bureau of Jewish Education. Fifteen students received their certificates and celebrated the completion of two years of intensive study.
Anne Burcham, an alumna and chair of the Melton Advisory Committee, welcomed the new graduates and challenged them to continue their studies and their affiliation with Melton through the local and international alumni associations. The students were invited to speak, and they shared their enjoyment of the lively discussions and their appreciation of the hard work of their teachers.
Melton teachers Rabbi Ben Goldstein, Jeremy Kridel, and Nancy Bell thanked their students for making them better teachers and spoke of how they learned themselves from every class. Everyone felt that the mix of different branches of Judaism was one of the best parts of this class.
Program Director Tracy Mishkin offered congratulations to Rabbi Goldstein, who is getting married and moving to Israel. Norm Sider, who is widely known for his work in other local Jewish educational programs, has been hired to replace him.
