Singing
Hatikva together (accompanied by the original recording
of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra's first official performance
of Hatikva) on the very site where the State of Israel was
declared was an emotional experience for all the participants
of the winter Israel Seminar.
For
Michael Moses from Sydney, the fourth day of the Israel
Seminar brought back especially vivid memories of when he
was a little boy. The images of his parents' joy and excitement
when the State of Israel was declared, returned to him when
the group visited Heichal Ha'atzmaut - the place where
Israel's independence was declared - in Tel Aviv. For him
and his wife, Susan, first time visitors to Israel,
this Mini-School trip is "spectacular". Back home
in Sydney, they have fallen in love with Melton and this love
is growing stronger and stronger as each day of the Seminar
passes.
In
addition to Heichal Ha'atzmaut, on this day of the
winter seminar, the group visited the old port of Jaffa, the
first neighborhoods in Tel Aviv, Beit Bialik, and experienced
the bustling modern city that Tel Aviv is today. The day ended
with the lighting of the Hannukah candles on the Tel Aviv
beachfront overlooking the Mediterranean sea and a visit to
Kikar Rabin.
