Parent Education Program (PEP) in St. Louis
By Rachel Katzman

The PEP class that I am a part of is something I look forward to each and every Monday. I come to the class from a traditional background of Judaism. I love being Jewish and this class reinforces my love for being who I am in addition to understanding that I am a part of something so much bigger and more awesome than myself.

I am understanding biblical stories as a parent instead of a child going to Hebrew school. When we talked about Adam and Eve, I had never thought of the relationship between Adam and Eve and G-d like that of a parent and a child. This was so interesting and something I hope to share with my own children. The same is true for understanding and appreciating Shabbat. We all shared with each other what we do for Shabbat and how we incorporate this in our lives. Sharing ideas and rituals with other young parents is fascinating and inspires me to do more and take somebody else’s idea and make it my own.

My PEP class reinforces my love and passion for Judaism while sharing and studying among other young parents who also want to enrich their Jewish lives and the lives of their families.

For further information on the PEP program, please contact Mitch Parker in our North American office (mparker@fmams.org.il).
