Fay
Bomberg, of Chicago has proved once again that the Florence
Melton Adult Mini-School is truly a global program without
borders. After her first year of studying with the Mini-School,
due to her husband's work, she had to move to London for a
year. While all was new in her temporary city of residence,
one thing remained the same - studying at the Mini-School.
According
to Fay "One of my biggest concerns about spending the
year in London was that I might not be able to finish my second
year of Melton. I was thrilled when I discovered a class that
met conveniently near my flat and where I was warmly welcomed
by Judy Trotter, director of the Mini-School in London,
my English classmates of course, and my two fabulous teachers,
Angela Wood and Evelyn Stern. Not only could
I complete my studies, but it was a great way to make some
English contacts."
Fay,
however, had to return to Chicago before graduation with her
fellow students in London, and arrived back in Chicago too
late for the graduation ceremony there. This was rectified
last week in Jerusalem, at the final dinner of the Israel
Seminar of the Mini-School, when Judy Kupchan, Director
of the Mini-School in Chicago presented her with her graduation
certificate. Judy Trotter, sorry not to be present,
was delighted that the special occasion had been marked. Fay
had been a delightful Melton student and we hope there will
be further opportunities for students to have such a global
experience.
Fay
was both surprised and thrilled to be the first Mini-School
graduate to receive her certificate in Jerusalem and to share
this experience with fellow Melton graduates from all around
the world. This was certainly a special way to end ten wonderful
days of travelling together around Israel the Mini-School
way.
