67 ADULTS GRADUATE FROM CAJE'S FLORENCE MELTON ADULT MINI-SCHOOL
The
Colorado Agency for Jewish Education (CAJE) recently honored
67 graduates of its Florence Melton Adult Mini-School at a
formal ceremony at Congregation Rodef Shalom. The graduation
ceremony featured a d'var Torah by Rabbi Sandra Cohen
and reflections on the Melton experience by graduate Louann
Miller.
"I believe that the first thing [Melton] has taught me
is that there is so much more to learn, to understand and
to study," said Miller in her remarks. "We reach
far beyond our classrooms with a new awareness of our own
identities as Jews to affect the Jewish world beyond us."
Students in the program attend classes for two hours per week,
31 weeks a year, for two years. Local rabbis and educators
teach the Melton classes, and there are no prerequisites,
grades, homework assignments or exams. The Mini-School is
appropriate for all Jewish learners and is not affiliated
with any particular branch of Judaism.
Registration
for the 2005-06 academic year is now underway, and limited
space is still available.
