Temple Emanuel and Beth David To Open Florence Melton Adult Mini-School in Fall

Rabbis Guttman and Havivi to teach 30-week course, opening new chapter of adult education in Greensboro

The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School is the fastest growing, pluralistic Jewish learning program for adults, with thousands of students enrolling each year in over 60 locations worldwide. Greensboro, NC, recently joined the Melton network, chosen to receive a prestigious Covenant Grant to enable three small-sized Jewish communities to offer this program.

The Melton program may be for you if you are a rising or active Jewish leader in Greensboro. Melton goes far beyond one-shot lectures or short-term seminars, challenging adult Jewish learners to engage in Jewish learning in a serious and comprehensive way. Each lesson is designed to inspire and enlighten students irrespective of their prior experience or background. Graduates receive a Certificate of Jewish Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in recognition of the significance of their learning.

Classes will begin in early October 2010 with classes rotating between Temple Emanuel and Beth David. Class space is limited and applications for registration will be available in the late summer.

To learn more about Melton, be sure to attend “Taste of Melton” on Tuesday night, August 24 at 7 PM.

For further information about the Melton School or to RSVP for “Taste of Melton,” please contact Rabbi Andy Koren (292-7899, x313, rabbiandy@tegreensboro.org), Director of the Greensboro area Florence Melton Adult Mini-School.
