Come from Four Schools on Two Continents Winter Israel Seminar

Melton Israel
Graduate Seminar Winter 2002-03
The
2002-3 Winter Israel Seminar was a resounding success from beginning to end, with
17 participants from four schools on two continents coming together for an experience
"second to none!" The tense political and security climate did not interfere
with a learning dynamic that was only surpassed by the pleasures of learning and
traveling with people from such different backgrounds. Two
additional highlights beyond the traditional program: a meeting with the editor
of The Jerusalem Report, David Horowitz, on the eve of Israel's elections ("I
learnt more about Israeli politics in one hour than in all of these years preceding
the meeting", said Ruth Parasol of Melbourne) and a meeting on the final
day with the president of The Hebrew University, Prof. Menachem Magidor, who honored
us and in turn was impressed by the degree to which participants had studied and
experienced Israel and Jewish history in a meaningful way through the seminar
and their Melton studies. Recruitment
is now under way for the Summer Israel Seminar.
