About
the Director
Andrea Rock is the director of the new Philadlephia-area Florence Melton Adult Mini-School at Barrack Hebrew Academy. Andrea holds a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and she is a graduate of the Senior Educators program of the Melton Centre for Jewish Education in the Diaspora, at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. A member of the Akiba/Barrack Hebrew Academy faculty since 1985, Andrea teaches English and Tanakh. She is a school leader in curriculum development with a particular interest in integration of sacred and secular text study. Andrea has served as a mentor teacher in the University of Pennsylvania’s Masters Program in Religious Education and as an instructor/presenter for conferences at the Melton Centre in Jerusalem. Andrea and her family live in Philadelphia, but they often spend sabbaticals, summers and vacations in Jerusalem..

Schedule for 2011-2012
During the 2011-12 academic year, Melton @ Barrack is presenting Melton alumni events in the Fall and Spring and one of the Melton Scholars curricula in the Spring, as well as Taste of Melton classes over the course of the year..
During March thru May of 2012, we will offer the Jewish Denominations: Addressing the Challenges of Modernity Scholars course. Specific information about the course should be forthcoming in January.
In Fall of 2012, we will begin to offer a full complement of Core and Scholars curricula. |
