About
the Director
Fae Silverman is the Director of the Florence Melton Adult Mini School of Southern Maine and the Program Coordinator at the Jewish Community Alliance of Southern Maine. She is a graduate of College of the Atlantic and holds a B.A. in Human Ecology. Her commitment to ongoing Jewish education and Jewish life shows in her leadership within Temple Beth El, the Southern Maine Hillel and the Maine Jewish Film Festival as well as her study of Hebrew prayers for her work to translate the Sidur (prayer book) into American Sign Language.

| Dov Goldberg teaches the morning “Rhythms of Jewish Living” and “Ethics of Jewish Living” classes. He is currently the Director of Congregational Learning at Temple Beth El in Portland and holds a B.A. from Rutgers, an M.A. & M.Phil in Psychology from Columbia, a Certificate in Judaic Studies from Hebrew University of Jerusalem & Ph.D. work in Jewish Philosophy from the Jewish Theological Seminary. He has experience working in numerous Religious Schools, Days Schools and synagogues, teaching pupils of all ages from pre-school-adult. |

| Ellie Miller teaches both morning and evening “Purposes of Jewish Living” and “Dramas of Jewish Living Throughout the Ages” classes. She recently retired from directing the Levey Day School in Portland and holds a B.A. in English from Colby College, an M.A. in Jewish Studies from Hebrew College, and a Certificate from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. She has experience preparing numerous bar and bat mitzvah students, teaching Hebrew School, Hebrew High School, and leading adult learning groups. |

| Steve Steinbock teaches the evening “Rhythms of Jewish Living” and “Ethics of Jewish Living” classes. He is a Jewish educator and freelance writer. Since moving to Maine, he has been active in Congregation Bet Ha’am’s religious school, b’nei mitzvah program, and adult education program. Steve holds a Masters Degree in Jewish Education from Hebrew Union College and an honorary Doctor of Jewish Religious Education from Hebrew Union College. He is the author of Torah: The Growing Gift, The Gift of Wisdom, and These Words Upon Our Heart. In addition to his religious work, Steve is an internationally recognized authority on mystery and detective fiction. |
