Letter from Prof. Haim D. Rabinowitch, Rector of the Hebrew University
The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School has an important role to play in the
realization of the Hebrew Universitys mission as the University of the Jewish
People. We are indebted to Florence Melton for her vision of the Mini-School and
are proud that her son Gordon Zacks has taken over as Chairman of the Board of
the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School Institute. The
Hebrew University serves a broad community, spanning diverse age groups and geographic
areas. The Mini-School is one way in which the University reaches out beyond its
physical campus, and the World Wide Web provides an additional, significant dimension
to this outreach. Hence
the Mini-School has excelled in bringing the wealthy resources of the Hebrew University
to thousands of students in more than 60 cities throughout the world. The participants
in the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School are considered continuing education students
of the Hebrew University, and upon completion of their Melton studies, they are
invited to attend the Graduate Israel Seminar, in Jerusalem.
The
Hebrew University is committed to the professional development of Mini-School
directors and faculty. We are proud to host a biennial in-service training conference
for directors and an annual Faculty Seminar. These are in addition to the materials
that we are making available on the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School website. Through
this website, we intend to extend the range of resources that we at the Hebrew
University are able to provide the Mini-Schools students, alumni and faculty,
thus further enriching the quality of the learning experience.
We
kindly invite you to visit the Hebrew
University's website for a virtual tour of the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem. And when you are in Israel, we invite
you to visit the Hebrew University campuses, including the
Melton
Centre for Jewish Education on Mount Scopus. Dont
miss this opportunity to explore our academic and physical
resources, as well as the cyber resources available throughout
these pages.
Sincerely, Prof.
Haim D. Rabinowitch, Rector The Hebrew University of Jerusalem
